OneUK partner, Valvoline Global comes to campus for ‘OneUK day’, hosts networking session
Representatives from Valvoline Global met with students at the University of Kentucky on Feb. 12 for an open networking session designed to introduce career opportunities ahead of the university’s spring career fair.
The event, co-hosted by the university’s Graham Office of Career Management and the Gatton College of Business and Economics, was held in the third-floor alcove of the Gatton building. The informal setting gave students an opportunity to connect directly with company representatives, ask questions and learn more about potential career paths.
The networking session was part of Valvoline Global’s “OneUK Day,” during which company leaders spent the day on campus engaging with UK staff, faculty and students. Activities throughout the day were aimed at strengthening ties between the company and the university community.
Valvoline Global is one of eight corporate partners in OneUK, an initiative that fosters strategic collaboration between the university and leading employers. Through events like the Feb. 12 networking session, partners provide students with direct access to industry professionals and insight into workforce opportunities.
OneUK Day was a great opportunity to engage with students and share more about career paths at Valvoline Global,” said Devan Schmidt, Recruiting Specialist at Valvoline Global Operations. “Our Intern Program is an important part of how we develop early career talent, and we’re excited to continue strengthening our connection with the University of Kentucky.
By hosting the open session ahead of the career fair, Valvoline Global sought to create a more personalized introduction to the company and encourage meaningful conversations about internships, entry-level roles and long-term career development.
“Hosting Valvoline Global Operations for OneUK Day was a great opportunity for our students to learn about career paths within a leading global company,” Kim Kluemper, Director of Business Engagement, said. “The event also allowed VGO to engage with talented students across a wide range of majors and skill sets. I think it was a success for all involved.”
