LEXINGTON, Ky. — OneUK partner Fischer Homes will host a networking reception for University of Kentucky students on Sept. 11 from 3:30-4:30p at the Cats Den in the Gatton Student Center.  The event is open to all students, regardless of major, who are seeking their first career after graduation and have a strong skillset in communication and connecting with people. It will provide an opportunity to meet Fischer Homes representatives, learn more about career paths within the company and gain insight into the homebuilding industry.

When Eva Peterson first arrived at the University of Kentucky, she declared a major in finance. But over time, she realized her interests stretched beyond spreadsheets and forecasts. She added a second major in management — a decision that reflected her growing curiosity about people. “I went into UK as a finance major and ended up double majoring in finance and management — two very different fields of study,” she said. “Numbers and emotions.” That pairing would go on to define more than just her academic experience, it would shape the way she works.

The Northern Kentucky-based homebuilder, known for its philosophy of “Hire the talent, train the skills,” aims to increase the hiring of UK students for internships, co-ops, and full-time positions. Career Builder Day is one way UK is collaborating with Fischer Homes to achieve that goal.
