OneUK partner, Catalent comes to campus for ‘OneUK day’
Representatives from Catalent visited the University of Kentucky campus on Feb. 10 to meet with faculty and staff and strengthen connections across academic programs.
The visit was part of Catalent’s “OneUK Day,” during which company leaders engaged with university partners to build relationships and increase brand awareness among UK talent.
Throughout the day, Catalent representatives met with the Office of Undergraduate Research and participated in several classroom visits. In CHE 552: Biological Chemistry II, the company discussed metabolic pathways and their relevance to industry applications. In CMR 420: Process Modeling in Chemical Engineering, representatives shared insights on process optimization. During LST 400 in engineering, they outlined how Catalent approaches the financial evaluation of capital projects. The team also engaged with students in SCE 631: Production and Operations Management to discuss real-world operational strategy.
In addition to classroom engagement, Catalent representatives had lunch with faculty and staff from the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences program and met with David Parsley of the Bachelor of Science in Lean Systems Engineering Technology program. The visit also included time with UK Extension staff to explore broader collaboration opportunities.
“Building strong partnerships with the University of Kentucky is incredibly important to us, Andi Kaplan, Sr. Director of Human Resources for Catalent, said. “Days like this allow us to learn from faculty, engage with students, and explore new ways to work together. We see UK as a true collaborator in developing the next generation of leaders, and we’re excited to continue growing this relationship.”
Catalent is one of eight corporate partners in OneUK, an initiative that fosters strategic collaboration between the university and leading employers. Through campus visits like the Feb. 10 engagement, partners deepen connections with faculty and staff while expanding opportunities for students.
“Catalent’s visit is a strong example of what OneUK is designed to do - create intentional, meaningful connections between industry leaders and our campus community,” Tori Summey, Associate Director of Employer Engagement said. “By engaging directly with faculty, staff and students across multiple disciplines, Catalent is not only increasing brand awareness but also helping our students see how their academic experiences translate into real-world impact.”
